Baccarat Games Online
Baccarat is a game with a long pedigree. It was originally played in Italy, as a game similar to faro; it then became very popular in France during the reign of Charles VIII in the late 15th century. There are three basic versions of baccarat (pronounced bach-a-rah).
Baccarat chemin de fer and baccarat
banque, also known as baccarat a deux tableaux,
are most commonly played in Europe. In North America,
the usual game is baccarat punto banco.
There is a version known as mini-baccarat,
which is essentially the same as the standard
North American game, but it is played on a smaller
table and usually for smaller stakes. For the
rest of this article, we will be referring only
to North American and mini-baccarat.
There are only three possible bets you can make: player wins, banker wins, or tie. Note that the terms player and banker do not refer to you versus the house. They are just names given to the hands dealt. A player win pays 1:1, a banker win pays 1:1 minus five percent, and a tie, being less common, pays at 9:1.
The winning hand is the one totaling closest
to nine. Baccarat is unusual, though, in its card
values. Any time you have a card or combination
of cards that totals ten, the ten becomes a zero.
Thus a queen and a seven total seven; a queen,
a ten and a seven are still seven, and a seven
and a three would equal zero. Baccarat is an easy
game to learn online. Click
